- SNDM - Determination of polization directions
It is difficult to determine the polarization directions of ferroelectric thin films.

However, SNDM makes it possible easily and nondestructively.
This is an experimental results for a ZnO thin film deposited on a material that has no polarization.

In case the base material has the polarization, it is very difficult to determine the polarization of the thin film using a conventional method. It is because the signal from the base material disturbs the target signal.

On the other hand, even if the base material has the polarization, such as a difficult measurement can be realized with SNDM.
This is because SNDM detects the signal arising from the surface (thin film) only, when we use the probe needle with a sharp tip.

This is a model of the thin film deposited over the base material which has the polarization.
The polarization of LiTaO3 is much larger than that of ZnO.

SNDM can detect the polarization of the ZnO thin film deposited on the LiTaO3.

These are the experimental results of the detemination of the polarization of thin films.
